Keeping ‘Cool’ during outdoor rehearsals:  While hydration is necessary for obvious reasons, maintaining a lower body temperature is necessary as well.  I recommend a cooling towel for your neck.  You can buy a synthetic one for 5.00 at Harbor Freight or 6.00 through Amazon (click link for example).  You can also use a hand towel and re-soak during rehearsal with ice water from your red coleman jug.   We can only learn as a unit and when students over-heat, learning slows and sometimes stops.  With our first game the 2nd week of school and our first competition in September, we need 100% efficiency at rehearsals.

Take care of your bodies.  Keep hydrated throughout the day and keep your body temperature low during rehearsal.

Wear sunglasses, sunscreen, ICE water, and a hat to rehearsal!

Welcome to Mandarin Middle School, Mr. Robert Tobias!  Mr. Tobias will also be our Asst Director of Bands at Mandarin High School.  He is an avid Jazz Musician, Classical Percussionist, and marched tenors for the LSU drum line for 4 years.  If you have little brothers or sisters interested in band, please encourage them to register.  He doesn’t have an email account through the school yet so you can direct any questions through Ms. Chaffin or Mrs. Davis and we will forward them to him.

What an awesome camp!  Thank you to everyone for your hard work and your musicianship.  We are halfway through the initial drill layout and have already begun adding visuals.  Your instructors and myself are hard at work on our end planning the drill, music, and visuals to make this the most rewarding experience you’ve had in high school marching band.  We will participate in 3 marching competitions as well as District Marching MPA which will be held at Fernandina Beach High School on November 4.
